Tree Ripe

Tree Ripe Ackee

Tree Ripe is one of the world's finest canned Ackee. Tree Ripe picks only ripen and 'opened' Ackee from carefully tended trees on our own farms. The fruit is packed within hours of harvest to capture the ripe, just picked flavor and firmness of the golden Ackee. Better tasting and more nitritious because they are not 'forced riped'. Along with the great taste, you get great value with a larger packaging containing an additional 1 oz (8.33%) of product over typical packaging. To prepare, simply drain, heat and serve as a colorful and unique ingredient in sauces, casseroles and traditional dishes.
Considered the national dish of Jamaica, Ackee can be prepared in a variety of ways. See our Recipes page for preparing a traditional and tasty Ackee and saltfish dish!

About Ackee

Ackee, grown in a handful of islands, is hugely popular in Jamaica. Paired with saltfish (cod fish) it's Jamaica's national dish. The Ackee fruit is bright red. When ripe, it opens to reveal three large black seeds and bright yellow flesh. Ackee's scientific name, Blighia Sapida, comes from Captain Bligh, who introduced the plant from west Africa.
